loosely related: I recently got a paper from a student who said that Islamic minarets were faulty Egyptian obelisks.
So I wrote back saying that was an interesting theory, and where did he get it from?
The Lost Solar System of the Ancients Discovered, Volume 1 by John Wilson.
…Chinese pagodas and Islamic minarets… were false forms of the original obelisk. The author states that minarets are essentially obelisks that are without the core meaning of the obelisk being transferred to the minaret (that is, the minaret is not a representation of Ra, like the obelisk is).
